Introduction

It is possible to set up two factor authentication for your Cloudpay account. The two factors are:

  1. Password (something you know)
  2. An authenticator app (something you have)

We have chosen to use an authenticator app, as it is possible now that SMS messages may be blocked.

You can download a trusted authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy onto your smartphone. These apps generate time-based one-time passcodes (TOTPs) that refresh every 30 seconds.

Before continuing, you will need to download and install this first, to your smartphone, (if you do not already have an authenticator)

Manage your Cloudpay Account

Log into your Cloudpay account in the usual way.

At the top right of the main screen is a silhouette of a person. Click this to access the account management screen.

Set up the Authenticator

Click on the Two Factor tab. You will see a QR code.

Scan this QR code with your authenticator app.

When you do this, the Authenticator will produce a six figure numeric code for 30 seconds. The code changes each 30 seconds. You will need to enter the code in Cloudpay and click the 'Verify' button before the code changes.

(Note: Do not use the QR code in the example opposite! Use the one generated in Cloudpay)

Save your recovery codes

If you correctly set everything up, and the code was verified, you can now download your recovery codes.

Please do not skip this step! You may get locked out of your account.

Click the 'Download Recovery Codes' button.

Storing the codes

Similar to Passwords, Cloudpay does not store recovery codes anywhere. If you lose these codes, then there is no way for us to get them back.

It is suggested that you should store these codes in a password manager, or secure offline storage.

Avoid using unencrypted notes apps, email inboxes or screenshots on your phone.

If you lose access to your authenticator app, you can use these recovery codes to log into Cloudpay.

(The ones opposite are examples, and won't work!)

Logging in

The next time you log in, the log in screen will look the same.

You will need to enter your user name and password in the usual way.

Second Factor

If you type the correct user name and password, you will be prompted to enter your authentication code.

Open your authentication app, and type in the six digit number.

Click 'Verify' before the 30 seconds runs out.

No Authenticator

If you do not have your authenticator (lost/stolen phone etc), then you can still log into Cloudpay using a recovery code.

The ten codes you stored earlier are each single use recovery codes. Enter an (unused) one of these in the 'Recovery code' box instead of using a Verification code.

It is recommended that once you log into Cloudpay using a recovery code, you can regenerate a new QR code to set up Two Factor Authentication again.
