We have received some reports of people either getting a Trojan Horse message or Payback suddenly 'disappearing' from their computer.
This is a false positive report and we've informed Microsoft so they can remove this from their threat database.
We can confirm that there is no virus or malware threat.
Go to Windows Security. You can access this either by the Windows Control Panel, or by:
Clicking the little up arrow (^) at the bottom right of your desktop
Then click the Shield icon to go to Windows Security.
Change Settings for Virus and threat protection
Click Virus and threat protection in the Window Security screen.
Restore Payback
Select 'Restore' whereever an affected item has Paybackie in the name.
As soon as you do this, Payback will reappear.
Note that if there are any other quarantined items, DO NOT restore them!
Please follow the steps below to clear cached detection and obtain the latest malware definitions.
1. Open command prompt as administrator and change directory to c:\Program Files\Windows Defender
2. Run “MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures”
3. Run "MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate"
